Region XII held their first annual Drinking Water Symposium on January 14, 2010. Nearly 35 folks participated in the training event held at Florida State University’s Bland Conference Center at the Panama City Campus. Attendees ranged from each of the following sectors: water operators, students currently enrolled at FSU, FSU Faculty, professional engineers. The event started at 9 am and didn’t finish up until a little after 4 pm.

There were a series of very good presentations from the following:

  • Pat Allman, Odyssey Manufacturing, presented in the morning on the following topics: General Chemical Safety, Sodium Hypochlorite, Disinfection, Chemical System Design, Chemical Handling, Storage and Use for Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment Plants.
  • Paul Blastic, Paul Blastic & Company, presented first in the afternoon session on Distribution System Flushing.
  • Brian Eaton, Mueller Company, filled the middle slot in the afternoon discussing Hydrants and Valves.
  • Tom Hogeland, Mueller Services, presented last on the afternoon, discussing Distribution System Preventive Maintenance.

All of the presenters were entertaining as well as informative.

If you’d like information on future events, please do not hesitate to contact us.
